TAORMINA
Loved and hated. Many people will advise you never to set foot there, others cannot imagine a holiday in Sicily without visiting this historical gem. Taormina is located on Monte Tauro at an altitude of 204 m.a.s.l. In Taormina there is a stone amphitheater from the 3rd century BC with a diameter of about 100 meters and a view of Mount Etna. The main street is the promenade Corso Umberto I. with historic palaces, shops and restaurants. The city gate Porta Catania from the 15th century is also very nice. You can either drive to Taormina and park in the parking garage on the outskirts or take the cable car practically from sea level.
